Breaking News: Double Book Launch!

Belfast Writers’ Group have been going from strength to strength since we reformed in September. After stalling for nearly two years, we are finally launching a new short story anthology AND re-releasing the first anthology with new, bonus content.

I have a story in the second edition of Ghosts in the Glass, a story in Creatures and Curiosities, and another story in ‘creatures’ that I helped write with my husband. It’s his first publication, so we’re really excited.

The official launch for both books is on Friday 27th of October at Malone Lodge Hotel Belfast, between 7 and 9.30pm.

Please come along for some readings and free tea and coffee. Facebook event here.

Happy National Poetry Day!

Things are still fairly hectic for me (this entire year so far has been insane) so I’m not making it out to a National Poetry Day event. But I did want to take this opportunity to say that the micropoetry collection I talked about releasing at the start of the year is still in the works. Because of all the madness that is life, I’ve pushed back the release date several times. Currently, I’m aiming for a November launch. But who knows – anything can happen during NaNo. As long as you know, dear readers, that I haven’t forgotten and I am getting there, albeit slowly.

New Book Editions for 2017

I’ve been working on a new set of covers for my back catalog of poetry and short story books, which you can see below.

In addition, I’ve quietly relaunched the poems from my youth, am in the process of bringing out a new book of micropoetry I wrote towards the end of last year, while starting work on a second micropoetry collection that I plan to spend all of this year compiling.

Once proof copies have been received and approved, I will be updating links here on

Event News: Women Aloud Poetry Recitals

Poetry Recital 1After the successful events Women Aloud NI put together for International Women’s Day earlier this year, FSNI asked us if we wanted to put together a poetry event to help promote the National Poetry Competition. Well, we said yes, and I was made coordinator!

It soon became clear that we had so much local talent that two events were needed, so I’ve been busy putting them together. I can now proudly announce:

Recital #1 on 4th August @ James Brown & Sons, Newtownards Road, Belfast

Recital #2 on 1st September @ Houston & Williamson, Crumlin Road, Belfast

Women Aloud Lists

Women Aloud LogoInternational Women’s Day may be over for this year, but that doesn’t mean we should stop promoting awesome ladies until March 8th 2017 rolls around.

Women Aloud NI have been continuing their work of supporting and encouraging writers in Northern Ireland wonderfully, mostly by keeping their social media feeds hopping with all kinds of great news and links – if you don’t already follow them on Facebook and Twitter, you really should!

I’m pleased to announce that the movement now has a YouTube Channel, run by yours truly. But that’s not all!

New Year, New Writing Services

Ellie Rose Writing Services Business CardI don’t usually set myself a new year’s resolution, per se. What I usually do is set myself a series of projects throughout the year, with the main project for said year launching in January.

Last year, it was the launch of this website and blog, and this year? I’ve decided on a fresh focus for my business.

So, this website is going to remain about my poetry, reading, writing, and general life; whereas my client work has now got it’s own separate homepage, under the new name of Ellie Rose Writing Services.

You can see that new website here:
